PLAYWRITING
I am a dramaturg by training, but within the last few years, I have started to cultivate my voice as a playwright. I aim to draw stories of lived-in, real characters with urgency around social, political, and cultural issues. I enjoy balancing the “intellectual”-- history, headlines, adapted text (#dramaturg!)-- with ease (humor, grounded specificity, gentle irreverence). I come from devising and hands-on new play development worlds, so I thrive on collaboration and questions.
I want to engage with ideas in the way you'd approach a potluck dinner: a little bit for lots of people and there's a lot to dig into. I like to create things for people to gather around, to make space to discuss and dissect things we don't always address, to make non-artists feel seen and excited by theatre, to offer perspectives/stories and characters that feel like they haven't seen a spotlight before. I love intersectional stories.

It’s March 2023, and the Purls of Wisdom Society has gathered for their biweekly fiber arts meeting in the upstairs multipurpose room of the Fairview Library. Stephanie and Taylor have welcomed newcomer knitter Sandy to their mix, despite the strange crowd gathering downstairs. Donna, head children’s librarian and leader of the Society, arrives and reveals that they are, in fact, a mob of protestors. The source of their ire? A banned books display created by Donna. “make one left purlwise” examines censorship, safety, and why people knit themselves together.

The intrepid crew at WRJS, a dying radio station down the shore in New Jersey, struggles to keep the lights on after a huge chunk of their public funding is taken away. Amidst strange happenings in the beach town and the arrival of a new colleague that could change everything, will the team be able to keep everything together? "A GREAT FACE FOR RADIO" is a story about public goods and the people who hold them up.
